Reverse Culture Shock - Booty Dancing

Reverse Culture Shock: occurs when you live in one place for a long period of time, only to move home and have your idiot friends make you go drinking every night. As my immune system and liver are slowly being beaten into submission, my eyes are being reopened to some things I always took for granted as "normal".

Welcome to the first installment in a series of hilarious essays outlining my RCS.


See above an example of booty dancing. Also known as freaking, freak dancing, grinding, and Hitchcockin. For the Europeans who are unaware, this form of dancing invites the participants to rub their genitals up against each other "in da club". As you can see in the photo, this phenomenon is not limited to hip-hop.

There are gradations of booty dancing, which range from "Mom at a wedding dancing with Tubby" to "sorority girl at Tommy's on a Thursday" to "absolute prostitute". Most forms tend towards the latter.

I was aware this is a completely acceptable way to show affection between friends or a way to break the ice with a stranger. However, things have really jumped up a notch since I left. I'm no Puritan, but the first time I went out, I saw what I would consider multiple sex crimes.

So in summation: booty dancing - it's what the kids are in to. It's what's happening on the streets.
