There is an interesting post (#11 in this thread) from the USS Mariner blog about the one and only Kazuhiro Sasaki and his decision to leave the Mariners in 2004. Scuttlebutt was rampant around the office, but I am sad to say I never found out for certain what happened when he went on the DL with the Samsonite injury.

Also, interesting that the new president of Iraq is not only Kurdish, he's a Talaban(i).
